1. Login to your account and select "Options" > "Settings"
2. Select the "Edit" icon for the hive scale device you wish to configure. If no hive scales are listed, select "Add" to register a new hive scale.
3. CONFIGURE THE FOLLOWING HIVE SCALE PARAMETERS AND SELECT "SAVE":
MAC: Enter the MAC address of your hive device. Your MAC address is printed on a label which can be found on the Wi-Fi Hive Scale. It is a 12 character serial number.
Name: Enter a label for your hive scale i.e. "My Unit".
BIP: ENABLE or DISABLE sharing your data to the Bee Informed Partnership portal. If enabled, your data can be shared and viewed at beeinformed.org.
Western Australian Apiarists Society Sharing: ENABLE or DISABLE sharing your data to the WAAS portal. If enabled, your data can be shared and viewed at https://waas.org.au.
Hourly Interval: The hourly interval can be set to 1 Hour, 2 Hours, 3 Hours, 4 Hours, 6 Hours, 8 Hours. This feature allows beekeepers to improve the battery life of the unit by setting a transmission interval for when data is sent to the Web. The unit logs data hourly and the beekeeper can now configure the unit to transmit these hourly records up to the Web at 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, or 8-hour intervals. The value can be changed at any time on the fly. A shorter time can be selected in the spring and a longer time can be set for the winter. The unit will be updated with its new settings the next time it transmits to the Web. This feature is only available on Wi-Fi Hive Scale purchased after October of 2017.
Scale Type: The hive scale type can be set as a Single or Dual scale. The Dual scale is popular with Top Bar hives and Long Langstroth hives.
Units: Units can be set to English to Metric. Scales set to English will report weight data in pounds. Scales set to metric will report weight data in kilograms.
E-mail Alerts: E-mail alerts can be ENABLED or DISABLED. If e-mail alerts are enabled, an e-mail will be sent if the hive scale battery is low.
High Speed Interval: The high speed interval can be set to DISABLED, 1.5 minutes, 3 minutes, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes. When this field is disabled, the hive scale will transmit at the hourly interval set by the "Hourly Interval" value. When enabled, the "Hourly Interval" will be ignored and the hive scale will transmit at high speed intervals of every 1.5 to 30 minutes. This feature is only available for new Wi-Fi Hive Scale units. High speed intervals allow beekeepers to do research with faster intervals than one hour. Cellular units should not be set lower than 5 minutes. This mode will reduce battery life.
Default Range: The default range can be set to 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, All. This setting determines the default range of time that weight and temperature values will be plotted on the graphs.
Sharing Enabled: The shared enabled option can be ENABLED or DISABLED. When enabled, data associated with the hive scale can be shared with other users via the "Share Hive Data" page. An automated e-mail with a link to the Wi-Fi Hive Scale portal will be sent to individuals that hive data has been shared with.
Threshold Notifications: This option can be ENABLED or DISABLED. When enabled, values can be entered for the "Threshold Min" and "Threshold Max" values below. If the hive scale reports a value below or above these thresholds, an e-mail alert will be sent.
Threshold Min: This field is blank by default. If "Threshold Notifications" is ENABLED, enter a min weight value. If the hive scale reports a weight below this value, an e-mail alert will be sent. If the hive scale is set for "English", the weight should be entered in pounds. If the hive scale is set for "Metric", the weight should be entered in kilograms.
Threshold Max: This field is blank by default. If "Threshold Notifications" is ENABLED, enter a max weight value. If the hive scale reports a weight above this value, an e-mail alert will be sent. If the hive scale is set for "English", the weight should be entered in pounds. If the hive scale is set for "Metric", the weight should be entered in kilograms.
Weight Bias: This field is set to 0 by default. This field is used to bias weight values on the graph to start at zero pounds from a fixed threshold value. If the hive scale is set for "English", the weight should be entered in pounds. If the hive scale is set for "Metric", the weight should be entered in kilograms. For a value of "10" with a scale set to English, weight data from zero to ten pounds will be plotted as zero pounds, and weight data from ten pounds and up will be plotted starting from zero. If a graph overlay is selected, the weight bias value will be ignored for the overlayed hive scale data.
Sensor Type: This field must be set to the sensor type used by your hive. It is set to Single-hive by default which is the sensor type for all single sensor hives. For multi-sensor hives, this field must be set to Multi-hive (Hive A+B) if using two sensors, Multi-hive (Hive A+B+C) if using three sensors, or Multi-hive (Hive A+B+C+D) if using four sensors.
Postal Code (optional): For Australian customers only. If you are sharing your hive data with the Western Australian Apiarists Society, your postal code will be sent to the WAAS portal.
Water Tank: This field is used with a specialized scale available in Australia for tracking the level of water in 500-gallon water totes.
